Job Opportunity: Para Kore Kaiārahi (waste advisor) for Te Whānau a Apanui

Kei te kimi kaimahi a Para Kore. Ko te mahi a te kaimahi nei, he āwhina i ngā marae, ngā kōhanga reo, ngā kura me ngā rōpū Māori ki te whakaiti para. Kei te kimi mātou i te hunga e ngākau nui ana ki te tiaki taiao me te mahi maara, e pakari ana hoki ki te tū ki te whakaatu kaupapa, ki te whakahaere wānanga hoki. Heoi, ka whakangungutia te kaimahi. Tēnā whakapā mai mēnā ki ō whakaaro he mahi pai tēnei mōu.

We are looking for a kaiārahi (waste advisor) who will deliver the Para Kore programme to marae, Māori organisations, kōhanga/kōpae, kura and kaupapa Māori events within Te Whānau a Apanui.

You will need knowledge of te reo Māori me ngā tikanga, be well connected within Te Whānau a Apanui as well as experienced in working with ngā hapū, ngā marae me ngā hapori o Te Whānau a Apanui. The applicant will also need to be passionate about kaitiakitanga, gardening, composting and zero waste.

The position requires approximately 20-25 hours a week. Applicants must be available to work weekends and evenings as required. The work involves giving presentations, doing waste checks and running wānanga/workshops with marae and local organisations.

Proficiency in using a computer is necessary and the applicant must have connection to the internet, phone and a reliable vehicle. Training is given and resources provided.

Skills and experience

Driven by a deep love for Te Taiao (Ranginui rāua ko Papatuānuku me ā rāua tamariki), the successful candidate will require a can-do attitude, professional personal presentation, be self-motivated and self-managing, optimistic with a solution-based outlook. This position will require you to be an excellent communicator with at least basic presentation and facilitation skills.
