Para Kore’s vision is oranga taiao, oranga marae, oranga whānau. We are a Māori, zero waste organisation and our purpose is to educate and advocate from a Māori worldview perspective for a world without waste. Kaiārahi deliver our education programme regionally, supporting marae, kura, kōhanga, community organisations, events and companies to reduce waste. This includes setting up recycling and composting and more importantly planning to design out waste through activities such as reuse, gardening and procurement policy.

ABOUT THE POSITION 

We require an influential, experienced part-time (20 hours) Marketing & Communications Manager, with a passion for their work and proven ability to develop outstanding marketing campaigns and communications from a Māori worldview perspective. 

We are looking for someone who can reach Māori audiences to normalise well-being kaupapa such as drinking water (from a tap), and gardening. To build a resilient organisation we’d love someone who can also link business development, marketing strategy and sales. You will be working to identify key stakeholders, both partners and influencers who can further our cause for a world that regenerates Ranginui, Papatūānuku and our atua whānau. You will be expected to be innovative and come up with ideas to assist in changing behaviour and increasing understanding about interconnectedness. 

Working closely with the Rōpū Ārahi /Leadership Team, you will take the lead in the development and implementation of the all-encompassing marketing, brand, and communications strategy. With a strong focus on normalising sustainability behaviours and messaging via digital channels; whānau and market insights will be utilised to educate, build engagement and share stories of change. You will be responsible for all internal and external communications, including social media platforms and website whilst developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. 

As you will be joining a highly motivated team, you will match their drive, be digitally strong, agile, and open to change.
On a personal level we need you to be self-sufficient with strong interpersonal skills and disciplines around planning with a proactive approach. You will be able to always demonstrate professional presentation and communication skills and have a preference for working autonomously (we all work remotely), yet collaboratively with the wider whānau. Part of your role may also involve supporting the development of on-line education modules based on atua. 

We require these attributes: 

  • Comfortable working in Māori communities and knowledgeable about te ao Māori 
  • ​Ability to work with the rest of the whānau 
  • ​Able to build relationships with partners, hapū/iwi, community, influencers and government. 
  • ​Can-do, no nonsense attitude. Self-motivated 
  • ​Proven marketing and communications experience 
  • ​Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • ​Ability to plan effectively, organize work and work autonomously
  • Digitally strong

Job Opportunity: Para Kore Kaiārahi (waste advisor) for the Waikato Rohe

Tēnā whakapā mai mēnā ki ō whakaaro he mahi pai tēnei mōu.

Para Kore is a not-for-profit, Mori zero-waste organisation with a kaupapa based on whakapapa to Papatūānuku and is expressed through an experienced and skilled team who work regionally delivering the Para Kore programme to marae and local communities. The Para Kore whnau are passionate about, and committed to, a world without waste and closed-loop living.

We are looking for a new kairahi in the Waikato, Maniapoto, Raukawa, Hauraki​ rohe​ to deliver the Para Kore programme to marae, Mori organisations, khanga/kpae, kura, events and others interested in education for a world without waste from a Mori worldview perspective.

You will need a knowledge of te reo Mori me na tikanga, be experienced in working with Mori and marae and be passionate about reducing waste. The position requires approximately 30 hours per week.​ Applicants must be available to work weekends and evenings as required. The work involves giving presentations, doing waste checks and running zero waste wnanga/workshops.

The successful applicant will liaise with Para Kore partners and investors (includes councils, funders, iwi authorities) and complete deliverables and accountability reports as required.

Proficiency in using a computer is necessary and the applicant must have a laptop, connection to the internet, phone and reliable vehicle. Training is given and resources provided for the delivery of the programme.

Skills and experience

Driven by a deep love for Te Taiao (Ranginui rua ko Papatunuku me ā rua tamariki), the successful candidate will require a can-do attitude, professional personal presentation, be self-motivated and self-managing, optimistic with a solution-based outlook. This position will require you to be an excellent communicator with at least basic presentation and facilitation skills.
