Where Kura Create Change

He aha te kaupapa?
Oranga Kura is a waste minimisation behaviour change programme funded by Waikato District Council for schools that are serious about reducing their waste.
He aha te whāinga?
The number one goal of the Oranga Kura programme is to reduce waste to landfill school-wide by 50% by June 2025, and to maintain this until June 2026.
What's Up This Term?
1. Send in your term one waste to landfill invoices. (SCAN OR COPY YOUR INVOICE AND EMAIL TO US. WE’LL DO THE REST.)
2. Revisit the KAI section in the 100 Oranga Kura Ideas doc for ideas on how best to deal with your kai. Choose something you can do this term.
3. Implement messaging about your food waste systems in your school comms (daily notices, assemblies, newsletters, social media, website).
4. Book a wānanga at any time for your kaimahi or your ākonga using this form.
What's in Your Rubbish?
To reduce your waste more, you can conduct your own waste check at any time. Here are the resources you need.
– Waste Check Guide – instructions for the self-directed Waste Check
– Waste Check Recording Sheet – to manually write down your totals
– Bin Guide – to understand the volumes of different containers
– Waste Check Report – to report for this term
How Are We Doing?
Monitor your progress on our Oranga Kura Dashboard. Every time you report your results using the forms, your data will update, giving you real-time insights into your progress toward zero waste.
Kia kaha taatou ki te whakaiti para!
Let’s go hard whaanau reducing our waste.
